Meet David Grant. He has set himself the challenge of running 2 marathons in 2017.
David is the leader of Life Church, Hook. Thirty years after his one and only previous 26.2 mile marathon he completed the Milton Keynes Marathon on 1st May (see opposite) and later in the year will complete the Snowdonia Marathon on 28th October.
David hopes to raise over £1,000 by completing these two runs so please support his efforts by donating generously to Bethesda Charity.
Total Raised so far: £700!
He has chosen to run in aid of the Bethesda Charity. This charity seeks to transform the lives of children in rural India by providing an education to boys and girls who otherwise would have little or no schooling.
The prospects for girls in particular without education are challenging. Poverty and illiteracy leads to malnourishment and underage marriage. 75% of women in India are married underage, some as young as 13. Education gives children like these a route out of poverty.
Many of the former students return to the Kalrayan hills where the school is located and contribute into the community improving prospects for others like them.
David first visited India in 2013 and on two subsequent visits has met the school’s head teacher. One of the members of Life Church spent a year working as a volunteer in the school and is heading back out for a further six months later this year. So there is a growing connection between the school and Life Church.
